Changing the Transfer Belt
28/03/2005
The Transfer Belt is located underneath the image drums. The following instructions explain how to remove these and change the transfer belt
Before replacing any consumables it is necessary to power off the printer using the safe shutdown procedure described in the Knowledgebase article below:
"Shutdown/Restart process"
1) Turn the release catch on the handle and lift the scanner up (Fig 1)

2) Fully open the printer cover (Fig 2)
Warning! The Fuser may be hot, please pay careful attention not to burn yourself

3) Note the positions of the 4 image drums. You
will see 4 corresponding coloured dots (Fig 3) to help you remember
which order to replace the drums. Remove the drums and place them
aside, paying careful attention not to scratch the light sensitive
surface on the bottom of the drum.
Note: The bottom of the image drums are light
sensitive, do not expose them to light for more than 5 minutes

4) Located either side of the transfer belt are two small blue leavers. Unlock these by pulling them to the left (Fig 4)

5) Using the two blue handles lift the transfer belt upwards and out of the printer, pulling from the right.
6) Place the transfer belt to one side and remove all outer packaging from the new transfer belt
7) Using the handles, lower the transfer belt into the printer from left to right. The belt will fit into the correct position easily without any additional pressure having to be applied
8) Place the image drums back into the printer in the correct order (see corresponding dots, Fig 3)
9) Lower the printer lid and press it shut
10) Turn the release catch on the scanner lift and lower the scanner down to it's original position
You have now successfully changed the transfer belt.
