Changing the fuser unit
21/02/2005
Just as simple as changing the toner and can be done in a matter of minutes, just follow these simple steps
1) Open the printer cover
Press the cover
release (See Fig 1, below) and lift the cover upwards
Warning: If the printer has recently been powered on, some fuser components will be very hot. Handle the fuser with extreme care, holding it only by its handle, which will only be mildly warm to the touch. A warning label clearly indicates the area. If in doubt, switch the printer off and wait at least 10 minutes for the fuser to cool before opening the printer cover

2) Pull the 2 Fuser levers
Pull the two
blue fuser retaining levers towards the front of the printer so
that they are fully upright, as shown in fig 2 (below)

3) Remove the fuser
Holding the fuser by its handle, lift the fuser straight up and out
of the printer (Fig 3). If the fuser is still warm, place it on a
flat surface that is not sensitive to heat

4) Take the new fuser
Remove the new fuser from its packaging and remove the transit
material
5) Align the fuser
Holding the new fuser by its handle, make sure that it is the
correct way round. The retaining levers should be fully upright,
and the caution sign on the handle should be readable
6) Put the fuser in the printer
Lower the
new fuser unit into the printer. Once in position, Push the two
blue retaining levers towards the rear of the printer to lock the
fuser in place
7) Close the printer cover
Finally, close
the top cover and press down firmly at both sides so that the cover
latches closed
