Quick and simple guide to changing your Transfer Belt
Changing the Transfer Belt
The transfer belt supports the paper as it passes through the printer. Over time the transfer belt wears out and needs to be replaced.
When the transfer belt reaches the end of its product life CHANGE BELT UNIT is displayed in the control panel. Transfer belt life is approximately 80,000 sheets, A4 long edge feed. However, this assumes a standard print job of three sheets. If single sheets are printed the transfer belt life is reduced.
Do it now
- Switch off the printer and open the top cover.

- Remove the four image drums and toner cartridges from the printer by simply lifting the combined toner and drum unit straight out (you do not need to remove the toner separately). Note the positions of the four cartridges. It is essential that they go back in the same order - the printer and the cartridges are colour coded

CAUTION! The green image drum surface at the base of each cartridge is very delicate and light sensitive. Do not touch it and do not expose it to normal room light for more than 5 minutes. If the drum unit needs to be out of the printer for longer than this, please wrap the cartridge inside a black plastic bag to keep it away from light. Never expose the drum to direct sunlight or very bright room lighting.
- Press back the lock lever (1) and, using the handles (2 and 3), remove the old transfer belt from the printer.

- Remove the new transfer belt unit from its packaging.
- Using the handles (2 and 3), align the pins (4) with the grooves (5) on the printer and insert the new transfer belt into the printer.
- Move the lock lever (1) forward and ensure it locks the transfer belt into place.
- Install the four image drums and toner cartridges back into the printer.
- Close the top cover.
